Well, I tried something else: I asked in the newsgroup microsoft.public.de.vb how to call and use the DLL. The answers were disappointing: Usally, C/C++ works with a convention named "cdecl", but BASIC can only work with a convention named "stdcall" (whatever this all means). First advise to me: I s...

Well, some results are here. This is what I tried: I converted a map in PaintShop Pro to 256 colors and saved it's color palette as PW8BitColor.pal. Then I imported the original map into the PA Map Manager. The result was rather bad again. Then I tried other color reduction methods in PaintShop Pro....

OK, if your program always uses one special palette, I understand where those results come from. I will examinate this issue a little bit more, before I send you samples.

TAB order in the MapManager

Usually I use Google Earth to calibrate my maps. I define a point in my map, click on the text entry for Latitude, move the cursor to the same point on Google Earth, read the latitude and type it into the Map Manager. After that I want to enter the Longitude, but of course without moving the cursor....

Map Manager produces wrong colors

I created a map, reduced the colors to 256, saved it as a BMP file, and imported it into the map manager (also with 256 colors). The result looks terribly. How can I prevent this? See the original on the left side and the result on the right side. If I import it with 16 bit colors, it looks good, bu...

I support this. Some weeks ago I captured a map from the internet, calibrated it and tried it out, but something was wrong. It took some time until I found out that the map was turned by 4 degrees. So I think it is very important to check some known points to make sure that the map is correctly cali...

I created a download page on my homepage where you can find my PA track reader and also four trials for the dll file. Please download at least one of the trials and let me know what your debugger reports.

Thanks, Paul

Thankyou very much. I tried to send you a file, but it exceeds the maximum upload size because it has about 314 kB (and can not be smaller). How can I send it to you?

If you want to send me your program, I can do some debugging to determine why the data is not going through. Thankyou very much for your offer. But the first problem is: when I receive no data, can I blame the DLL or did I write a wrong code? Because there seem to be several ways to call the DLL fr...

Why does PWDBLib.DLL need a wrapper? Is it not possible to use it in a BASIC program? Surely I would prefer to use PWDBLib.DLL instead of parsing PathAwayDBV.cdb, but if it doesn't work, I have to other choice. And I am happy enough with PA3, so I have no reason to upgrade to a version which is not ...

How to use PWDBLib.DLL with BASIC programs?

I have PathAway 3 (without TTQV) and want to export my trackings. Since the PathAwayLog.txt has a limited size, I wrote a program which tries to find tracks in PathAwayDBV.cdb. My program is not perfect (because I don't have any information about the structure of PathAwayDBV.cdb), but it works rathe...
