Can the Pathaway be used as a data logger on trackdays?

Postby Flens » Mon Aug 08, 2005 2:37 am

Hi!

I'm just wondering if the Pathaway software can be used for logging laptimes, max speed etc. on trackdays, you know...running your own car around a racetrack.
:-)

Ideally, you have a predefined track, with a marked start/finish line, and the software calculates a laptime from that.

I'd be using a T3 and a Emtac Bluetooth GPS. Is a bluetooth GPS unit exact enough for this kind of logging?

Sorry, but you can't do this as this would not be accurate enough with gps.

At least with the normal ones. The positions will be updated once per second, so you may have an inaccuracy up to one sec. There are professional transceivers updating the position at 5Hz. With a clever SW you could eventually do it. Right now I don't know of this SW to be on the market, but I know of some in developement.
