Etrex or Bluetooth GPS?

Postby Inselaffe » Sun Feb 05, 2006 7:22 pm

Hello. Some advice would be greatly appreciated -

I have a Palm TX that I want to use with Pathaway for my little sailing boat.

I already have a Garmin etrex.

I see two options:
A. buy cable to link the two (& give power from 12V for both) from gpswarehous in UK (cheaper, better link?)
B. Buy a bluetooth GPS receiver (palm can stay in waterproof aquapac bag).

What are pro's & con's of both?
Are these bluetooth receivers waterproof/could they stay in cabin?

Cheers

I would recommend a Holux GPSlim 236 that uses the Sirf-III chipset.
It is very sensitive and can stay in the cabin. It does so on my sailing-boat.
It is connected via bluetooth.

Hi

You can use bluetooth GPS in a waterproof bag too, no problem with SIRF III Gps
i power on my Royaltek rbt-2010 before treck and leave it in my treck bag and have 8 to 10 sats in forest.
I use it for long treck because it have 17 hours autonomy
