it simply doesnt work on modern wm5 devices (like fsc loox n560). standby is NOT prevented.
this i pretty much a killer when you're in the field. disabling standby in general isnt such a good idea, it happens quite a lot that your pda is/stays turned on unnoticed and then you're fucked and lost, batteries dead when you need them.
i dont know how you try to do it, but it fails. you might want to ask the guy from mortscript (http://www.sto-helit.de/modules/edito/content.php?id=38), he has a IdleTimerReset command in his script language that works on all incarnations of windows mobile.
oh, another idea. how about some options:
command to execute on gps online:
command to execute on gps offline:
command to execute on fix aquired:
command to execute on fix lost:
that would give us a lot more flexibility with very little effort on your side.
Also, Pathaway still crashes/locks 100% reproducably when resuming from standby while GPS was online. This probably has to do with the WM5 default comport splitter.
Greetings,
Stefan.
Fixed: stay on when connected Loox 560

Another Plea
Another Plea for the same. I have used the Palm version for many years and have just got a Dell Axim 51v. I have just used it in anger whilst dinghy sailing and I simply don't have enough time to steer the boat and keep pressing the on switch and then reconnecting the GPS.

I don't get this problem, but then I use an application called PPCProfiles-Pro (Free) which sits on the Today screen (as a plugin) and switches between separate user-defined profiles e.g. Silent, Loud, Car, etc.
I have created a GPS profile which turns on bluetooth, and sets backlight and device always on.
So, all I have to do is tap on the profile icon and select GPS and I can use PathAway without any problems. When I'm done, tap the profile icon and select Normal and I'm back as I was.

PPCProfiles
I tried PPCProfiles and it does all it says it does. However it slowed the whole machine down so far as to make it unusable. I couldn't even play solitaire. It is fine again having deleted it. Anyone else had this problem? Dell Axim X51v

Stay on while connected now seems to work as advertised (tested on FSC Loox 560 WM5). Thanks, Scott.
However, with this setting, Pathaway now also prevents the backlight from being switched off. This is not really desirable imho.
I am not sure if winmobile allows to make a difference here... probably not
.
