Convert google earth route to pathaway

I thought this would be straightforward, but I am not having much success.

I have created a route in google earth, saved as both .kmz and .kml files. I have used these in Data Transfer Utility (version 4.00.05) and transfered to various file types (Palm format, gpx, csv, even kml format). In every case, the output file has what seems like the right number of points, but all are lat and long 0.00000000, 0.00000000.

I have tried a variety of settings, auto detect type, specified route file, etc, with no success.

Any hints?

For info, I am running Windows XP on Parallels 3 on an Intel MacBook. A kml and sample output files are attached.

A solution

Hi again,

After many tedious hours trial and error, I found the following solution to work. Basically, I opened the google route in Mapaway, then saved it as Palm format file. I then converted this file using the Data Transfer Utility, and this file worked.

Here are the details:

1. Save Google earth route file as .kmz format.
2. Open this file in Mapaway (Select route and points).
3. Save file from Mapaway
4. Convert this file (.pdb format) using Pathaway Data Transfer Utility.
5. Settings in Utility: Convert, select file, choose routes, export routes to Palm OS format, etc.
6. Transfer this file (.pwrte format) onto palm memory stick
7. Open Pathaway on Palm, import route.

The DTU does not yet support KML import (only export TO KML), which is why the direct import did not work. We are working on KML import and should have it soon.

Thanks Scott. I am glad I found the workaround.

By the way, for the price, Pathaway is a very featured application.
