RESOLVED: e-mail account setup broken

Postby checkmate » Mon Dec 01, 2008 4:40 am

It took me some time to relate this issue to PW5 ...

I have an Asus A696 with a german WM6 classic. When Pathway 5 Pro is installed on my device I'm no longer able to access the setup of an existing POP3 e-mail account (e.g. gmail) in pocket outlook. I'm also no longer able to create a new e-mail account.

After PW5 has been installed once even a de-installation of the same won't fix the problem. Only restoring a backup (without a PW5 installation) enables access to e-mail account setup again. I have played this game (i.e. make a backup, install PW5, restore backup) with 5.00.18, 5.00.20 and 5.00.24 now, every time same issue - finally reverted back to PW4.

Anyone else observed this issue?

suddenly this issue came back without having PW5 installed, thus PW5 is obviously not the culprit. Sorry for blaming PW5 ... need to find the real root cause - PW5 is now back again on my device

I found the root cause. Problem is the REG-Key below:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS\Rules]
"{3AB4C10E-673C-494c-98A2-CC2E91A48115}"=dword:00000001
"{C5448FFF-399D-40BE-9661-0A390DF56CAA}"=dword:00000001

If I delete this key, I can create new e-mail accounts or modify existing ones. If the key is present I cannot. My ASUS is not SMS enabled, maybe this confuses pocket outlook.

The first CLSID comes from Navigon's MN7, second one I think comes from PW5 - but I'm not sure. You may want to check.
