PWWebMaps on external SD card

Postby raylac5833 » Wed Sep 02, 2015 7:23 am

Hi Scott,

Can you explain me how to proceed for PathAway records
Web maps to the external SD card.

In Menu-Settings-Folder
I added : /storage/extSdCard/PWWebMaps
but the web maps is always saved the sdcard0 internal memory.

equipment:
Android v4.1
PathAway Pro v6.02

Thank you for answering my request.

If you are running Android 4.4 (KitKat) then the external card is not writable unless its set to PathAway's private folder.
To set Webmaps to store on the external card use folder:
/Android/data/com.muskokatech.PathAwayPro/files/PWWebMaps

Note when you change the folder the existing downloaded cache is not moved so you would need to copy them over manually if you want to keep them.

I tried your solution by using this folder on PathAway settings parameters
/storage/sdcard0/Android/data/com.muskokatech.PathAwayPro/files/PWWebMaps
and also
/storage/ExtSdCard/Android/data/com.muskokatech.PathAwayPro/files/PWWebMaps
result :
the web maps is always saved the sdcard0 internal memory.

Have you any other suggestions ?
Thank's

I just tried this and it worked for me. To confirm the process:
Go into "Maps-WebMaps"
Tap: "Manage Offline Cache"
Under "Cache Folder", choose "Select Folder". Set the external card folder.

But beware: If you need to uninstall pathaway for some reason (e.g. a reinstallation) all your offline Webmaps automatically get removed by Android OS, when stored in the Android/data/.. folder!

This happened to me once for several GB of Map Data I downloaded over weeks, and I still can remember how I was wondering, why the uninstall took minutes..

Great Point! I'm sorry I didn't know that this would happen.
