How to track a trail and come back to the starting point?

Hello,

I'd like to hike and track my trail then to come back to my starting point. How can I do it. I've red the manual but too clumsy to use it I guess!

I'm testing the Demo right now, and it looks like an awesome program. The main thing that brought me to pathaway, was I was looking for a tracking program that Screenblanks.

I've installed maps and callibrated and it all works great so far. However, I still haven't figured out the compass part.

- How do you set a destination?
- It would be great if you could set a destination by clicking on the map and setting one. I imagine his is how most hikers would use it.

Looks like the concept of setting a destination is a route based one.
So to go from where you currently are back to the start would be:

Tracking Method:
- Options -> Tracks -> select the current track -> Edit Points
- Select the first point -> Add to Route -> Navigate to selected point

Map Method:
- Click a point on the map
- Choose Add Route Pt -> New Route -> Navigate to Selected point.
======

By Default, PathAway is set to Record your Track as you move. So, start your hike with PathAway running. PathAway will record the trail as you go.

When you want to return, go to the Options->Track Dialog. You'll see a '*' beside the track you just recorded. Click on the track and choose Follow "Reverse". Now your track is set to be the current "Route", and you will be guided down the trail to your starting point.

Note: If PathAway is not set to record your track, you can turn it on in the GPS->New Trip... dialog.

Thank you scot. It's very simple. The only bad point about pathaway is a poor user manual.

Another bad point not for pathaway but my pda, the screen isn't very bright and not readable when sunny. For the autonomy, i just add an outside 12v lead acid battery.
