DRG or Shapefile map import?

I'll add to billythekid below. Is it possible to more easily import a DRG or Shapefile than to calibrate either with the Map Manager? It doesn't sound too bad to actually draw known points with ArcView (or even Topo!) then save as JPG, then calibrate. Just wondering if there's an even more direct way.

I've got a huge set of DRGs (and DEMs) for areas I use, so it would just make things easier.
