The main Cairns streets around the CBD, the marina, and up to the airport.
I created it from a street directory on CD by cut and paste to a graphics program and then calibrated it with Pathaway Map Manager.
The calibration is reasonably accurate, and although it is quite a large map at 4.6meg. It is compressed and there seems to be some image degredation in converting from jpg to prc.
One of my first attempts, and it seems to work well on my Tungsten T5.

On a larger scale, here is a Quennsland basic map, with most towns and roads.
I am yet to confirm the accuracy of the calibration, I'll do that on the next trip!

My pleasure.
Would like to get NSW + Vic back without creating them again.
If someone has a copy email it to me |

Hi Swag et al
I'm in NSW, but travel through work in all the eastern states + NZ + Indonesia
"Cut 'n paste" from a street directory, then using MapManager to calibrate, is well-confirmed but tedious for, say, Sydney
Any suggestions on this ?

Yes, lots of work.
For a city the size of Cairns, its not too much but for Sydney it would be a considerable exercise.
My only suggestion: many hands make light work but this is a large project which would require some coordination!

Yes, it is tedious. Still, such a map would be valuable to a large number of people, so it may be worth considering how-to
For me, the first problem is one of resolution at zoomed scales.
For example, maps.google.com will bring up street directory quality and can be calibrated off GoogleEarth quite easily (the satellite photos are of a resolution in Sydney such that individual cars/driveways can be grid-coordinated). But one then needs a screen dump to JPG for MapManager, and that's when resolution drops way off
How would you overcome this problem ?
