PathAway Mobile Device Software adds support for X-Traverse online maps and data exchange

MuskokaTech’s PathAway Software for Windows Mobile and Nokia/Symbian now uses X-Traverse.com to download maps and exchange data wirelessly.

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Aug 18, 2010 -- MuskokaTech today announced the addition of direct support for Fugawi's X-Traverse.com map and data exchange service. Previously, users would need to return to a desktop computer to store or extract valuable location data such as track logs, waypoints, and routes. X-Traverse support is offered as a free update to all PathAway version 5 or higher users.

Now, using the data exchange service on X-Traverse.com, users can now transfer their data wirelessly, directly from PathAway. This ensures captured data on the device is secure, and provides access to relevant data files while in the field.

X-Traverse also offers subscription-based online topographic and marine maps and charts. These maps can now be used by PathAway via the streaming WebMaps system. Webmaps will download and cache map sections "on-the-fly" to ensure the user always has a map around their current location. Each map set has multiple resolutions of maps available. Currently, X-Traverse Map support for PathAway consists of topographic maps covering USA, Canada, Germany, and Sweden. Additional coverage will be added on an on-going basis.
